I have decided to open a shop!

I have always wanted to have a shop. I find things all the time which I think are useful or beautiful (or hopefully both) which I think should be shared with others. In an ideal world I would have a funny little shop that you could spend an afternoon poking around in, with a little teashop, including home made cakes, in the corner.

Also a book section with books you could read whilst you have you tea and cake. I have the idea of Shakespears book shop in my mind there somewhere I think.

So, a shop it shall be. Sadly a virtual shop for the time being but perhaps I can move on to a real bricks and mortar shop one day. I am not sure how it will 'stock' my shop just yet but I hope it will be interesting & of course economical.

  2. I'd buy cakes :)
Seriously though it is hard to make it online these days as so many people are doing it. Are you thinking along the lines of a gift shop? I think you would need to have an angle that makes you stand out.

The coffee shop/bookshop has always been a dream of mine. I might be doing that in Portugal ;)

  3. I'm not sure to be honest. I need extra income ofcourse but I also would like to suplly something which is actually appealing - as opposed to selling loo rolls or coffee. I will think more before I commit to buying any stock though!
Perhaps I could do that in Crete too. Our closest 'tourist' village is Aghia Galini. Plenty of coffee shops but book shops are distinctly thin on the ground. Also our land is quite big and could accomodate an outdoor restaurant with wonderful views. I am never short of ideas but my common sense can run a bit thin at times!!!!!

  4. Good for you. Since I was commissioned to do some pictures, people have asked me if I sell my art. I just gave it away & it's gone all over the world. I'd love to settle down & get a good stock that could be advertised somewhere, but I need inspiration. Without a studio, or a place where the dogs can't "help" & access to power by a table, I can't use encaustic in which the wax colours & shapes gives me ideas, leaving me with pen & ink. Wolfhound pup & ink will NOT mix, especially as she stands head over the table! My last [picture was a very personal one for an internet friend in Norway & she inspired that. When I have an idea to work with I can do it during Annon's dance class as I have dispensation to work in the kitchen of the Parish Hall.

Basically I don't think that I'm good enough to sell my art, my knitting, my crochet. I think I'm frightened to try in somewhere like etsy at the moment

  5. My problem is more ideas than abilities but you seem to have abilities too! You should try Etsy. You will soon know if it is good enough and you can hide behind your screen name until you are more confident.
Nice to her form you agian#

  6. I've finally got blogger to give me a long hand way of uploading photos to blogger, which means opening another site as a go-between & uploading my photos there. I'll post my work on my artist blog & see if I get any comments about it once I've mastered photobucket!
