Time for a change

I have worked in housing for 23 years. Its been great fun as there is always so much to do, always something new and at the end of the day you know you are doing good in the world.

Somehow we seem to have ended up with a board who dont agree, They are all about market rent and corporate this and that. Innovation more important than knowledge. Well maybe but I think that in my area innovation in frowned upon! I dont recall anyone ever saying these accounts are not innovative enough. To me that smacks of creative accounting!

So anyway its enough to make me wonder  if its time to do something new. I was going to say i have fallen out of love with the corporate world but it was never very corporate, It was hard work and fun though.

Is 54 too late to make the change??

Happy Easter

Syrian lunch in Windsor office went off very well. Everyone seemed to love Faheds cooking and they also organised a draw, a music quiz and something else ( memory still playing up!! too much to think about)

Following Monday we had curry lunch at Eastleigh office. Fahed made a Thai vegetable curry and lovely friend Meera made a Kerala Chicken curry. We sold approx 60 portions! No quiz, draw etc as we were working too hard on the food!  I took some home for the family too. Jamal said it was especially yum and was exactly like they had on the ship when he was out in Asia. After a bit of discussion we realised it was because they had a Kerala crew at that point. Kerala looks very beautiful, if google is to be believed, and its on my list!

Next Saturday is the big Syria event. Cooking for about 100 people. Eek! But its a buffet so much, much easier.

Fahed had a date come through for his back operation which is even further in the future than we were told. However his doctor has written tot he asking for it to be brought forward if possible and has also given him different pain killing medication, which appears to be basically morphine.  I am not entirely certain he is in less pain but he is certainly very Zen about it all of a sudden.

I spoke to a doctor friend about my great nieces in Saudi Arabia. My nephew had asked us to find if there was anywhere better that they could be cared for but we found Riyadh to be as good as anywhere. Doctor friend also said that dragging them on a plane half way around the world wouldn't be good for them anyway really. He also said, after seeing the video, that their post accident symptoms are very similar to cerebral palsy. I have fed everything we have learned back to my nephew. Maybe we make a difference, I just dont know.

Just keeping going here. One day at a time :)

Just a quick catch up

Today I worked from home and Fahed cooked all day for the Syrian lunch thing tomorrow. Bless him. He also ramped up the dishes sizes so we had lovely Syrian food today and tomorrow too. Yay!

And he called the hippowaste people to collect the hippo bags and something else which i have forgotten. But I am happy as he forgets so many things. Its the pain in his back i think but also the amount of medication he takes to keep it at bay. After his operation he will wake up alert and unmedicated (in my dreams anyway) and I wont know him.

My son and his girlfriend changed over my sofa for one which is only used by the cats in the conservatory (the cats wont mind), Its so firm and comfortable. Maybe my back will be happy. the old sofa is going and the cats can share with me.

One of the things i was bleating about yesterday with my cryptic bad things sentence was that my nephew went to Saudi Arabia with his wife and two daughters to get away from the fighting in Syria, about two years ago. The mum and kids were hit by a car when walking and both kids were in comas as far as I can tell. He sent videos of each of them which he took yesterday. Oh my good god, it shook me to the core. A four year old and 12 year old, just empty husks now. The person who hit them is taking full responsibility and paying for all medical care and even provided a flat for the family. They asked us for any ideas of where to get any better medical care. I cant find anything useful on the web. However a doctor friend is going to call me tonight to talk about it and see if he can steer me in the right direction. So much kindness in the world but the nasty stuff is weighing heavy on me at the moment.

Just live every moment to the full as it could go in moments.

Doh!

I am increasingly confused as to how blogger works and now have trouble posting a blog, since i rearranged the template. Never mind, it will give me something to do when i am bored.

Also something brilliant did just happen. You know the black face masks which are all around on facebook? Just applied one and carried on with the hoovering. Then answered the door to my neighbour.  He literally jumped back and even after I had explained it was a cosmetic treatment he could quite look me in the eye. He gave me a quick message and ran away!

Bad things have happened this week. To people I know but am not close to. Enough to make me think that I have nothing to moan about, not ever. When i cant get on top of things it really doesn't matter, not really really,.

Also the Syria fundraiser is going well. We are 15% of the way there and none of the actual events have so far taken place! So this coming Wednesday we have Syrian lunch, cakes, draw, quiz and something else which I have forgotten at the Windsor office. All I have to do is show up with some Syrian food, which is definitely within my skill set :)

The following Monday is curry lunch at work in Eastleigh. We have pre orders for 20 curries and Meera, lovely lady making the main curry, tells me that she made 100 last time they were fundraising at work. Wow! I am making a Thai veg green curry.

The the big event. Superheroes for Syria. I am so nervous in case not enough people come. Becky has been and still is working so hard on it. Still sleep is overrated so another month worrying and not sleeping will be fine

No news from the hospital about Faheds back operation yet but, on the bright side, we still have the NHS, just about, so I am counting that as a positive

My life
